Ahoy there, Arrrgh, Shiver me timbers etc...

Growing up, I used to spend long summers with my grandparents in Cornwall. Grandpa was a keen sailor, and used to take me out in his Wayfarer on Plymouth Sound. My uncle Dan worked for many years on cargo shipping lines. Uncle Josh has always worked at sea - merchant navy, tall-ships sailing instructor and more recently as captain of some fairly high-profile vessels. The sea is something that is in the family, even if nowadays I rarely get the chance to sail.
While thinking of decoration plans for our someday-new-home, I came across this post from Style Files, a bath boat (or boat bath?) . I LOVE it. It made me think of this bath, by Aquamass
Which in turn reminded me of a style of lighting that we fell in love with having seen it in a brochure at Batibouw. The Nautic range from Tekna:

Nautical style can be very subtle and charming, with just a few elements of the theme and an appropriate white and blue colour scheme:

Or how about a bold  and daring statement:
Or how about...maybe not. This is not a theme park! Less is more, people!
Thoughts on incorporating nautical elements to a bathroom when one is over 100 kilometres from the sea?

  1. Shells from Oostende, definitely the third lamp from the left on the top row, perhaps a round mirror suggesting a porthole, and yes... whale or boat bath, because they are simply awesome.
